
Tampa Pulls Away From Clayton State
TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa (11-5) women's soccer team scored three second half goals to defeat Clayton State University (5-10) by a 3-1 score.
Scoreless at the half, it took just over two minutes in the second half for UT's Brittan Spence to score the first goal of the contest and break the deadlock. Charlotte White was credited with an assist thanks to her cross.
Alyson Gregorowicz scored the eventual game-winner in the 58th minute as White picked up her second assist of the afternoon on a long pass. CSU would cut the gap in half at the 83:52 mark as Charie Sayon scored on a long shot from just inside midfield.
Freshman Carolyn Simon helped the Spartans regain its two-goal advantage as she scored with just under three minutes to play. Gabby Jolin was credited with the assist.
Leah Cesanek played all 90 minutes in goal for UT, who outshot the Lakers 28-4 on the day. Tampa also had a 9-1 advantage on shots on goal.
Tampa will conclude the 2010 regular season on Thursday against Rollins College. The Tars sit at 9-2-2 on the year and 4-1-2 in Sunshine State Conference play. Live stats and a webcast will be available through www.tampaspartans.com.
