TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa (8-4-2, 1-2-1 SSC) women's soccer team defeated Barry University (6-7, 2-4 SSC) Sunday by a score of 3-1.
Barry University took an early lead in minute 29 when Melissa Madrid netted a goal, assisted by Lauren Manna.
The Buccaneers lead wouldn't stand long as the Spartans racked up three goals in a four minute period. Lauren Moore was the first to score during minute 36 on a penalty kick. Amber Pennybaker drew the foul in the box to give Tampa the penalty kick.
Amber Pennybaker notched her first collegiate goal in minute 39 to increase Tampa's lead to 2-1. Almost moments later in minute 39, Cina Salemi recorded her first goal of the season to bring the score to 3-1.
Goalie Emelie Karstrom earned the win for the game. Karstrom allowed one goal and recorded one save.
The Spartan's next game will be in Saint Petersburg, Fla. to face off against Eckerd College on Friday at 7 p.m.
