Tampa Slated To Battle Palm Beach Atlantic In Weekend Contest
TAMPA, Fla. - The Tampa women's soccer team returns home on Saturday to take on the Sailfish of Palm Beach Atlantic at Pepin Stadium.
UT enters the contest with a record of 4-1-1, last time out the Spartans knocked off no.10 Rollins on the road in Winter Park, Fla by a score 2-1. Scoring for Tampa was senior Cici Gonzalez and freshman Korey O'Rourke.
PBA comes into the match sporting a mark of 4-2, coming off back to back victories over Lynn and Florida Southern College.
Tampa leads Palm Beach Atlantic in the all-time series 10-1, with their last victory coming in 2014.
Leading the Spartan offense with her four goals is Gonzlez; Nastasia Asgedom serves as the catalyst for the offense leading the team with three assists while notching two goals of her own. Also proven to be a major contributor O'Rourke has registered two goals as well.
The UT defense is led by a talented trio in senior Audrey Hayward and sophomore Miranda Gonzalez. Rounding out the trio is goalkeeper Caroline Frykgard, who has amassed 20 saves on the season and posted a .95 goals against average.
