Spartans Host Fighting Knights on Senior Night

UT will look to get back on the winning track

TAMPA, Fla. – The University of Tampa women's soccer team will host the Lynn University Fighting Knights on Saturday night. The Spartans are coming off a close 1-0 road loss at Embry-Riddle while Lynn is coming off a 2-0 home loss to Barry University. Prior to the match, the team will recognize its six seniors in a ceremony on the field.

The Matchup: Tampa (5-4-1, 2-4 SSC) vs. Lynn (5-6, 3-3 SSC)

Date/Time: Saturday, October 14 at 7 p.m.

Location: Pepin Stadium | Tampa, Fla. 

Last Time Out: UT traveled to Daytona Beach, Fla. for a midweek match at Embry-Riddle. The Spartans fought hard, but after going down on the scoreboard they were unable to be a threat near the goal. They came up short as the Eagles scored the only goal of the match in the last twelve minutes of the first half to win 1-0. With a 2-4 record in conference play, Tampa is ready to get back on the winning track against Lynn.

About the Spartans: On the offensive side of the field, Erika Peitersen, Nastasia Asgedom, and Ali Robinson have combined for eight of the 11 goals scored by the team. Asgedom also leads the team in assists, points, and shots on goal. In net, Caroline Frykgard has played every minute so far this season. The senior keeper comes in with a 1.07 GAA, has recorded 33 saves, a .750 save percentage and has two shutouts.

About the Fighting Knights: Lynn is led offensively by Donish Henry-Cole who played and started in all eleven games this year. Traynor has four goals, two assists, and 25 shots this season. Gabriela Moreira has also contributed four goals and one assist, while Valentina Pedretti tallied three goals and an assist. Goalkeeper Alexa Downie has played every minute so far this season. Downie comes into this match with a 1.52 GAA, has recorded 65 saves, has a save percentage of .793%, and has three shutouts.

Series History:  Tampa leads the all-time series against Lynn 14-5-3.
