Late Rally Lifts No. 13 Mississippi College Over Spartans
TAMPA, Fla. – The University of Tampa women's soccer team led for the majority of regulation before losing its advantage to No. 13 Mississippi College in an overtime battle.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
1st Half | The Spartans needed just under two minutes to get on the board as Moeko Morse found an opening in the Choctaw defense on a breakaway goal. UT would extend its lead to 2-0 in the 21st minute when Elena Barr found the back of the net on a kick from Syd Griner. The Choctaws registered 10 saves in the period while the Spartans tallied just three. || UT, 2-0
2nd Half | The Spartan shutout remained intact until the 33rd minute of the half when Kaylee Foster netted the first goal of the season for Mississippi College. Foster would knot the score at two apiece just 21 seconds later, as the score would remain tied for the remainder of regulation. || Tied, 2-2
Extra Time| With just 21 seconds to play in the first 10-minute overtime period, the Choctaws secured the game-winner on a score from Katie Taylor that was crossed by teammate Lexi Pund. || MC, 3-2
INSIDE THE STATS:
- Goalkeeper Megan Bromwell matched her career-high with 11 saves, which is fifth in program history for saves in a contest.
- MC outshot the Spartans 25-5 as 15 of the Choctaws shots were on target. UT finished with four shots on goal.
- Barr, Emily Cady, Morse, Jalyssa Richardson and Lisa Caprara each had a shot for UT.
- Mississippi College was issued three yellow cards.
UP NEXT: The University of Tampa will hit the road for a pair of weekend matches at Columbus State, beginning with a Friday meeting with the No. 2-ranked Cougars. UT concludes the trip with a Sunday match against another South Region opponent in Montevallo.
