
Spartans Drop 1-0 Contest to Colorado-Colorado Springs
TAMPA, Fla. – The University of Tampa women's soccer team suffered a 1-0 setback in a meeting with the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
FIRST HALF: Tampa's defense proved to be unbreakable for the first 30 minutes of play, as the ball remained on the Spartan side of the field for a majority of time. The Colorado attack steamed ahead with 5 shots on goal, and were able to find the back of the net at the 30-minute mark after an indirect kick granted due to a Tampa foul. Goal keeper Lovisa Camel safeguarded Tampa with 4 saves. The Tampa offense was able to make some headway in the last 10 minutes with a shot on goal header from Katherine Hostage in the 40th minute. The Lions outshot the Spartans 9-2 in the first half. Score: 1-0 Colorado-Colorado Springs
SECOND HALF: The Spartans entered the second half eager to pull ahead and had a shot on goal in the first 3 minutes by Lone Cirotzki. The next 20 minutes were met with intensity as both teams shared control of the ball, neither defense allowing a single shot on goal. At 68' Stephanie deLaforcad had a shot but was denied by the Lions tender. Jackie Morris followed with a header shot of her own at 74' and the lions were quick to respond but blocked by Camel. 3 minutes later Camel had 2 more saves. The Spartans fought till the whistle but were unable to score falling 1-0 to the Colorado Mountain Lions.
INSIDE THE STATS:
- Lovisa Camel started and played all 90 minutes in goal for the Spartans. She would finish with five saves.
- UCCS held a 14-6 advantage in shots, including a 6-3 edge in shots on target.
- A total of six Spartans were credited with a shot apiece.
