
Spartans Edge Lions For SSC Road Win
ST. LEO, Fla. – The University of Tampa Spartans edged out the Saint Leo University Lions with a fierce attack in the second half.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
FIRST HALF: Lovisa Camel had her first save (11'). After a foul by Elena Barr the Lions were awarded a free kick which they took advantage of and scored the first point of the match (17'). Barr (29'), Morghan Craven (40'), and Jalyssa Richardson (43'), took a shot on goal but the ball was saved by the Lion's keeper. With neither team scoring the half ended 1-0, Lions in the lead.
SECOND HALF: The second half began with Megan Hessel in goal for Camel 2 fouls by UT allowed for the Lions to get two free kicks but they were unable to capitalize on the opportunity (49') (50'). Jackie Morris had a shot that was off target and Richardson's shot went to the bottom center but was saved by the goalie (56'). Hessel has her first save off the foot of a St. Leo attacker (61'). Katherine Hostage made her own attempt to score (65') and shortly after Stephanie deLaforcade scored assisted by Richardson (66'). Moments later the lead was cemented with a goal from Hostage assisted by Erin McCarthy (68'). The attack did not let up with 2 more shots on goal by Barr (70')(76'). Brooke Steigerwalt's shot into the left corner of the net (79') was saved by the Lions' keeper. Unable to answer Tampa's last goal the Lions were defeated 2-1.
