TAMPA, Fla. - The No.25 University of Tampa Spartans triumph in home opener against Emporia State Univeristy Hornets, earning their third straight victory.

All-time series: Today's contest makes this the first game all time between the two teams, as Tampa now leads the all-time series 1-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
FIRST HALF: Emporia State displayed their talent up top as they outshot Tampa by 6-4, with 3 of them on target. However, their efforts were stopped by goalkeeper, Aidan Smith, who made four saves. Tampa, on the other hand, managed to find the back of the net in the 37th minute as Mimi Cronquist scored the opening goal, assisted by Nellie Bryneus and Sydni Dennis. This goal gave the Spartans the lead going into halftime.
SECOND HALF: The second half of the game witnessed a continued dominance from Tampa. Emporia State struggled to break through Tampa's defense, managing only 3 shots, with 2 on target. In the 74th minute, Bryneus scored an impressive solo goal, extending Tampa's lead to 2-0.
INSIDE THE STATS:
- Cronquist earned her first goal of the season while Bryneus earns her second goal.
- Smith earned her third win of the season, tallying five saves.
