
Tampa Throttles Saint Leo in Women’s Swimming
TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa women's swimming team overmatched Saint Leo University, toppling the Lions by a score of 201-61 in a Sunshine State Conference meeting on Saturday. The Lions defeated Tampa 151-11 in the men's race.
The Spartans started and ended the meet with a pair of women's relays victories, beginning with the 200 Medley Relay top-finish by Hilary Stetekluh, Lisa Bero, Lindsay Calimer and Kylie Piche (1:53.17). The UT 400 Free Relay of Kristine Kassl, Emily Tan, Alexandria Greenhill and Tiera Forsyth also finished first (3:43.53).
Tampa's women won 10 individual races, with first-place finishes from Kassl (1,000 Free, 10:51.40), Heather Glenday (200 Free, 1:56.53 and 100 Free, 54.69), Stetekluh (100 Back, 1:02.12 and 100 Fly, 1:00.54), Catherine Parker (200 Fly, 2:09.15), Alexandra Webb (200 Back, 2:15.25), Bero (200 Breast, 2:27.33), Greenhill (500 Free, 5:22.30) and Alex Hipolito (200 IM, 2:13.66).
UT's men also had wins from Elias Dammann (1,000 Free, 10:06.29), Berk Kahraman (100 Back, 52.47) and Norbert Kovacs (200 Fly, 1:52.51 and 100 Fly, 50.80).
Tampa will travel to Florida Tech on Friday, Dec. 2, followed by a Dec. 3 matchup at Nova Southeastern University. Both are SSC contests.
