Tampa Set to Continue Rivalry with Florida Southern
TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa and Florida Southern College will continue their long-standing rivalry with a pair of games on Wednesday. The Sunshine State Conference members will tip-off the women's game at 5:30 p.m., which will be followed by the men's game at 7:30 p.m.
The Spartan women (12-3, 5-1 SSC), winners of two consecutive games, currently sit atop the top of the SSC in a tie with Lynn. The Moccasins (10-6, 3-3 SSC) are coming off an impressive 58-48 victory over Florida Tech, who handed Tampa their lone SSC defeat. UT is 25-48 in the all-time series with Florida Southern as the teams split last season
The men's game will feature the SSC's top two teams, as Tampa (10-4, 4-2 SSC) and Florida Southern (14-4, 5-1 SSC) are each in the top two while Lynn is tied with UT for second. The Moccasins are winners of six consecutive games, including an 89-67 win over Florida Tech on Saturday. FSC's lone SSC loss was to Nova Southeastern on December 1. Tampa is 46-62 versus Florida Southern. The teams split last year with each winning at home.
Tickets may be purchased at the gate, which will open at 4:30 p.m. The cost is $5 (adults) and $3 (senior citizens/students with ID). UT students will be admitted free with valid student identification card.
