UT Set To Host NCAA II Soccer Finals
TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa will host the 2009 NCAA Division II Men's and Women's Soccer national championship games on Saturday at Pepin Stadium. Following Thursday's semifinals, the pairings are set for the championships at UT.
The women's championship game between Grand Valley State (Mich.) University and Cal State University Dominguez Hills will kick-off at 1 p.m., followed by the men's title game between Fort Lewis (Colo.) College and Lees-McRae (N.C.) College at 4 p.m.
Both games will part of a live broadcast on CBS Sports. A live gametracker and webcast will also be available through ncaa.com. A link is also available through the tournament web site.
In the women's semifinals, Grand Valley State advanced with a 3-2 overtime victory over St. Rose. CSU Dominguez Hills played to a 1-1 tie with West Florida and moved on following a 4-1 penalty kick triumph.
Fort Lewis opened the national semifinals with an offensive breakout where it notched an 8-2 victory over LeMoyne. In the match, the nation's top-scoring team scored six goals in the second half. Lees-McRae and Lewis finished with a 2-2 tie as LMC advanced with a 5-3 win in the penalty kick round.
