UT Well Represented on Commissioner’s Honor Roll
ORLANDO, Fla. - A total of 378 student-athletes were named to the Sunshine State Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll for the Fall 2009 semester, announced Tuesday by Commissioner Jay Jones. 54 students carried a perfect 4.00 GPA for the semester.
The University of Tampa had a total of 66 student-athletes from men's and women's cross country, men's and women's soccer and volleyball on the list.
Among the 66 UT student athletes to earn recognition, four earned a perfect 4.0 GPA for the semester. Women's cross country members Amber Eisenberg, Heather Nicolosi and Paige Williams joined male runner Joe Ranalli as the Spartans to register a perfect semester in the classroom.
To be eligible for the Commissioner's Fall Honor Roll, a student-athlete must post a minimum grade point average of 3.20 on a scale of 4.00. Participants in the sports of men's and women's cross country, men's and women's soccer, and volleyball were eligible for the honor roll.
Having won 71 national championships since the league was founded in 1975, the SSC's student-athletes have also proven to be successful in the classrooms. The NCAA recently announced that, for the third consecutive year, the Sunshine State Conference led all 22 Division II conferences with an Academic Success Rate of 85 percent.
