Tampa To Implement QR Code In Gameday Brochures
TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa sports information department has announced that it will use QR codes in its gameday programs, enhancing the ability for fans to obtain additional information at Spartan home games.
QR (Quick Response) Code, are a 2-D barcode that can be scanned by a smart phone's camera to transfer information and appear as a square barcode. UT's initial programs featuring QR code will include a link to view live stats along with both teams' full statistics.
To view QR codes, a smartphone must have a QR reader, many of which are available through application stores for free.
The addition to QR codes is in addition to complete University of Tampa social networking sites through Twitter (www.twitter.com/utspartans), Facebook (www.facebook.com/tampaspartans) and YouTube (www.youtube.com/utathletics). UT also offers blAst, a free text messaging service that sends text alerts following all Spartan events and full photo galleries on its official Web site.
