Tampa Continues Strong Standing In Directors’ Cup Standings
CLEVELAND - The University of Tampa continues its high ranking in the Learfield Sports NCAA Division II Directors' Cup standings, ranking No. 11 in the first installment of the winter rankings.
Grand Valley State currently sits atop the Directors' Cup standings with 703 points. Shippensburg (496.5) and Central Missouri (456) are also in the top three.
UT has earned points in women's cross country (45), women's soccer (64), men's soccer (25), volleyball (90), women's swimming (63) and men's swimming (45).
All seven fall NCAA championships have been completed with the following institutions capturing titles: women's soccer - Grand Valley State; men's soccer - Northern Kentucky; women's volleyball - Concordia, Minn.; women's field hockey - Massachusetts Lowell; men's cross country - Adams State; women's cross country - Grand Valley State; football - Minnesota Duluth.
In the winter championships, Drury captured both the men's and women's swimming & diving championships. The final installment of the winter rankings will include men's and women's track and field along with men's wrestling.
The Learfield Sports Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in up to 14 sports -- seven women's and seven men's.
The final Division II winter standings will be released Thursday, March 31, 2011.
