Spartan Basketball Welcomes In Tars
TAMPA, Fla.- The University of Tampa men and women basketball teams are set to welcome in Rollins College into the Bob Martinez Athletics Center. The matchup will mark the second to last home game for both teams.
The Spartan women come into the matchup at 14-9, with a 7-6 record in the Sunshine State Conference. The Tars come into the game with a 19-4 record, and currently sit in second in the SSC with a 10-3 mark. Tampa is coming off a loss against Saint Leo, While Rollins dropped their last contest to Nova Southeastern.
Juliana Cavallaro leads the way for UT as she is averaging 16.3 points and 5.8 rebounds per game. She is shooting 45% from the field, and 43% from beyond the arc. Cavallaro is also closing in on a milestone, as she is only nine points away from becoming the 17th player in school history to score 1,000 career points.
Aisha Rodney is also an impact player for the Spartans, as she is averaging 12.5 points and 5.3 rebounds per game.Rodney has also contributed with double digit points in seven out of the past eight games.
In their first matchup of the season, Rollins used a late run to defeat Tampa 63-46.
The Spartan men's team is looking to build on their win streak, as they enter the game at a 16-8 mark, while holding a 8-5 conference record. Rollins enters at 9-16, and 2-11 in conference play. Both teams enter the game coming off wins as Tampa defeated Saint Leo, and Rollins upset Nova Southeastern.
UT is led by senior center Eugene McCrory, who is averaging 16.8
points and 9.2 rebounds per game. McCrory has posted double-digit
points in all but one game this year. He has also posted
eight double-doubles.
Jordan Davis and Austin Rettig are also averaging double-digit points, scoring 15.3 and 15.1 points respectively. Last time out Davis totaled 19 points against the Lions, and was one assist and rebound away from his second triple-double of the season.
Tampa is looking for the season sweep, as they defeated Rollins 82-71 back in January.
The women's game is scheduled to being at 2:00 p.m. while the men are scheduled to start at 4:00 p.m.
