SSC Mayors’ Cup Fall/Winter Standings
MELBOURNE, Fla. - University of Tampa women and
Florida Southern College men lead their divisions in the 2014-15
Sunshine State Conference Mayors' Cup standings. Through the winter
sports season, Tampa women hold a four-point edge, while Florida
Southern men are on top by half a point.
Winners of the SSC Mayors' Cup will be announced directly following
the spring athletic season, in which baseball, softball, golf,
tennis, lacrosse, and rowing will be scored.
SSC Women's Mayors' Cup
Tampa gained nearly half of their 31 points from the 2014
volleyball regular season championship and a second place finish at
the cross-country championship. The Spartans finished third at the
2015 swimming championships, fifth in the basketball standings, and
fourth in the soccer standings. Tampa has won four SSC Women's
Mayors' Cups, including the last two.
Nova Southeastern University is in second place with 27 points. NSU
won the basketball regular season and swimming championships. They
finished third at the cross county championship and seventh in both
the final soccer and volleyball standings.
Third place Saint Leo University has accumulated 26 points over
fall and winter. The Lions won the conference cross country
championship, finished third in the soccer standings, and tied for
third in volleyball (Rollins, Lynn).

SSC Men's Mayors' Cup
Florida Southern won the 2015 swimming championship and the 2014-15
basketball regular season championship. The Moccasins finished
second at the 2015 cross country championship and ninth in the
soccer standings. FSC shared the SSC Men's Mayors' Cup with Saint
Leo in 2012-13 and Florida Tech in 2011-12. They last won the award
outright in 2007-08 and have won the cup thirteen times
overall.
Saint Leo University, back-to-back defending champions, trail
Florida Southern by half a point in the standings. The Lions
accumulated the majority of their 20.5 points by winning the cross
country championship and tying for second in soccer (Florida Tech).
Saint Leo also finished fourth at the swimming championship and
tied for fifth in basketball (Florida Tech, Nova Southeastern).
Third place Nova Southeastern University has accumulated 18 points
over fall and winter. The Sharks came in second at the swim
championship and third at the cross country championship. NSU
finished the soccer regular season in fifth place and tied for
fifth in basketball (Florida Tech, Saint Leo).

About the Mayors' Cup
In an effort to further recognize the achievements of its
student-athletes and member institutions the Sunshine State
Conference awards the institution in both men's and women's
athletics that performs the greatest over the fall, winter, and
spring sport seasons. The Mayors' Cup is awarded annually as a
symbol of excellence in athletics over 18 championship sports.
Member institutions earn points for the finish of each varsity team
in officially recognized conference sports. Teams receive points
for final position in regular season standings (volleyball, men's
and women's soccer, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's
tennis, men's and women's lacrosse, softball and baseball) or in
final championship standings (men's and women's cross country,
men's and women's swimming, men's and women's golf and rowing).
