Tampa Cheerleading Places Eighth at Nationals
Spartans in top-10 for second straight season.
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The University of Tampa cheerleading team competed in the Division for Small Coed DII, DIII, NAIA and Community Colleges, finishing eighth overall.
After finishing 10th last season, this marks the second year of competition for the Spartans.
"This is an exciting time as we've been in the top 10 teams nationwide both years," says head coach Mannie Rotella. "We are really excited. Our team is growing so much and we know next year will be even better."
The competition took place in Daytona Beach, Fla., as the Spartans compete in the Ocean Center on day one and for the finals, they competed on the beach in the Bandshell.
"It was a really cool experience and the first UT cheer team to make it to finals," says Rotella. "The kids worked so hard and I am very proud of the work they put in this year."
The competition is called the NCA Collegiate National Championship.
