Tampa Has 137 Spring Athletes Named to SSC Commissioner's Honor Roll
Recipients came from a total of 12 Spartan teams.
MELBOURNE, Fla. – A record 1,292 student-athletes are named to the 2018 Sunshine State Conference Spring Commissioner's Honor Roll, announced Tuesday, June 26 by Commissioner Ed Pasque. The University of Tampa placed a total of 137 student-athletes on the list, including 26 with a perfect 4.0 GPA in the spring semester.
A total of 235 student-athletes carried a perfect 4.00 grade-point average for the semester. This spring's numbers break the previous SSC Commissioner's Spring Honor Roll records of 1,142 student-athletes honored and 177 perfect grade-point averages, which were set in 2017.
To be eligible for the Spring SSC Commissioner's Honor Roll, a student-athlete must post a minimum grade -point average of 3.20 on a scale of 4.00. Participants in the sports of men's and women's basketball, men's and women's swimming, men's and women's golf, men's and women's tennis, men's and women's lacrosse, women's rowing, baseball, and softball are eligible for the spring honor roll.
Having won 104 Division II National Championships, the SSC's student-athletes have also proven to be successful in the classroom. For the seventh consecutive year, the SSC boasts an Academic Success Rate of 86-percent. The mark ranks first among all NCAA Division II conferences.
