ICYMI – In case you missed it, women's basketball, men's basketball, men's swimming, and women's swimming were all in action during the week.
Women's basketball had a pair of games last week as they traveled to Florida Tech and hosted Lynn University. In the road game against the Florida Tech Panthers, the Spartans had a strong overall performance, winning by 20 points with a score of 62-42. Dori Nagy led the way with a double-double as she had 20 points and a career-high 16 rebounds. Melijah Sullivan would also finish the game with 20 points for the Spartans. In the home game against Lynn, the Spartans would move their conference record to 9-0 as they would claim a 66-54 victory. Nagy would record another double-double as she scored 23 points and pulled down 14 rebounds.
Men's basketball split their two games this week against Florida Tech and Lynn. The Panthers used a strong performance in the second half to take an 87-54 victory. In the home game against the Lynn Fighting Knights the Spartans never trailed in the game as they pulled out a 77-75 victory. Pat Bacon would score the final basket as he made a layup with 18 seconds left in the game. Four UT starters would score in double digits, led by Bacon with 22, and Martin Lakovic with 20.
Men's and women's swimming hosted Indian River State College as the Spartans recognized their seniors. The meet had a total of 28 events, including 14 for the men and 14 for the women. The 14th ranked men took the meet by a final score of 178-81, while the eighth ranked women took the meet 169-91. The men would take first place in 11 races, including the win in both relay races. The women would also take first place in 11 events.
THIS WEEK
Women's basketball will have a pair of conference games this week as they travel to Lakeland on Wednesday to take on the Florida Southern Moccasins. On Saturday the Spartans will be on the road again as they travel to Ft. Lauderdale to take on the Nova Southeastern University Sharks. This will be the second time the two teams will play one another as the Spartans took the first matchup 72-70. Wednesday's game will start at 5:30 p.m. and Saturday's game will start at 2:00 p.m.
The Men will have a pair of road games against two nationally ranked teams. On Wednesday, at 7:30 p.m., the men will play against the 11th ranked Florida Southern Mocs. On Saturday, UT will square off against the ninth ranked NSU Sharks.
