Kellen Broaderick Named UT's Male Scholar-Athlete
TAMPA, Fla. - University of Tampa senior swimmer Kellen Broaderick has repeated as the recipient of the 2019-20 Male Scholar-Athlete Award. This marks the second year of the annual award, which is determined based on Year in school, UT GPA, Major/Minor & Academic Accolades including Dean's List, etc.
Broaderick, a senior from Destin, Fla., will graduate in three years at the top of his class with a major in finance and economics. He continues to carry a perfect 4.0 GPA after also being the 2018-19 recipient of the Scholar-Athlete Award.
He also works as a beach lifeguard in hometown, keeping beaches safe for tourists and giving summer-long swim lessons to children from ages 4-10 in the community through the local swim team. Broaderick also volunteers at Feeding Tampa Bay and has volunteered the past two years at the Top Shot Tournament in support of UT athletics and scholarships
A member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee at UT to support student-athletes, he also spent the summer of 2019 as a Congressional Intern to help serve the national community.
Due to the cancellation of the 2020 Sparty's, the major awards for the 2019-20 season with be announced throughout the week on TampaSpartans.com. Other awards include the Iron Spartan Award and the Melissa Vanderhall Spartan Cape Award.
