Spartans Set to Host Saint Leo
Tampa beach volleyball welcomes the Saint Leo Lions for the first meeting in both programs history.
TAMPA, Fla. – The University of Tampa beach volleyball team is set to host the Saint Leo Lions on Tuesday, March 20th at 4:00 p.m.
The Matchup: University of Tampa (6-7) vs. Saint Leo University (1-1)

Last Time Out: The Tampa Spartans lost to the Florida Gulf Coast University Eagles by a final score of 4-1. In the matchup, the only win for Tampa came from partners Leigh Buttner and Gabbi Pacatte, who defeated the Eagles in three sets by scores of 22-20, 17-21, 15-11.
About the Spartans: This is the inaugural season for beach volleyball at the University of Tampa. The roster is composed of 10 beach only athletes, while eight of the student-athletes also played on the University's indoor team in the fall. This season, the Spartans have a 6-7 record, logging wins over the 2017 small college national champions Webber International, Morehead State, Stevenson University and SSC rival Florida Southern. Head Coach Jeff Lamm, just finished his 16th season as an indoor assistant, where he has found success helping the Spartans achieve two NCAA Division II National Championships. Lamm's indoor coaching career has been wildly successful and in 2011 he was even honored by the American Volleyball Coaches Association of America (AVCA) as the National Assistant Coach of the Year. This is Jeff Lamm's first head coaching job at the collegiate level.
About the Lions: The Lions beach program is in its first year of existence. They are currently 1-1 with their solo win coming from their match against the Florida Southern Moccasins.
Series History: This is the first-time Tampa has faced Saint Leo in Beach Volleyball.
