Spartans Drop a Pair of Matches in Battle of the Bay
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The University of Tampa's beach volleyball team would wrap up the second day of competition at the Eckerd Battle of the Bay as they faced #13 Florida Atlantic University and Florida Gulf Coast University. The Spartans would battle in both matches, but they would ultimately drop both.
Dual 1
The 13th ranked Owls would be too much for the Spartans as they would claim a 4-1 victory in the first match of the day. The Spartans would not go down easily as three of the losses would come in five sets. The duo of Katie McKiel and Melissa Elias would gain the victory for Tampa.

In the second match of the day, UT would square off against the FGCU Eagles. The Eagles were able to pull out a 3-2 victory in a highly competitive match. FGCU would take the matches in the one and two spots in three sets each, while UT would claim the victories in the three and four spots. The Eagle would win the five spot to keep their undefeated season intact.
