First Home Matches of the Beach Volleyball Season Result in Victory

TAMPA, Fla. – The University of Tampa's beach volleyball team defeated the University of North Carolina Wilmington and Tusculum University in UT's first home matches of the season. With the two victories, the Spartans improve to 9-5 this season.

DUAL 1

Tampa beat the UNCW Seahawks by one match. The two sides were tied after the first four matches, resulting in Tampa's number one pairings victory being the tiebreaker. The Spartans ended a two-match losing streak by besting UNCW. Only one set in the entire match was decided by more than seven points.

DUAL 2

The Spartans swept the Pioneers in straight sets across all five matches. UT's three and four pairings were extremely dominant in their victory. Melissa Elias and Katie McKiel won their match in the three spot, while only losing 11 total points. Erica Haslag and Tatiana Gutierrez "one-upped" their teammates by only losing ten total points to Tusculum's number four duo. Haslag and Gutierrez were impressive as they won the second set by a commanding 18 points.
