
Tampa Opens Up Season with Two Matches at the Seminole Beach Bash
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Tampa Spartans Beach Volleyball opens their season going 1-1 on day one at the Seminole Beach Bash.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
v.s. Southern Mississippi- Tampa's #1 pairing of Julia Oswald and Rachel Rosequist opened the day with a dominant win over their opposition pairing from Southern Mississippi, taking the match in straight sets, 21-14 in the first and 21-9 in the second. The next four Tampa pairings followed suit. Matches two through five ended in similar fashion, straight sets, opening up the Spartan's season in assertive fashion.
v.s. North Florida- Following their strong start, the Spartans fell short against Division 1 #20 North Florida in the second match of the day, losing by a score of 4-1. The #1 pairing extended the first set into the thirties, but dropped the set 32-30 and were again edged out in the second. Melissa Elias and Madison Brunick, the #2 pairing for the Spartans, took the first set from the Ospreys 21-15. However, Elias and Brunick dropped the second set 21-11 and were narrowly beaten in the third 18-16. The #3 pairing of Kiersten Anderson and Payton Brunick were the only Spartans to defeat the Ospreys, doing so in straight sets 21-11 and 21-9. The final two pairings proved to be competitive, but North Florida took both matches in straight sets.
