HOW IT HAPPENED:
v.s. No. 8 Cal Poly: The Spartans started off the day claiming victory over #8 Cal Poly, proving they can compete with powerhouse programs. The first two matches of the contest went in the Mustang's favor, both in straight sets. The #2 pairing of Kiersten Anderson and Payton Brunick dispatched their opponents in straight sets by a score of 21-19 both times. UT's #1 pairing of Julia Oswald and Rachel Rosequist sealed their match 15-8 in the third, and Tatianna Gutierrez sparked the Spartan court storm after she sealed the #4 matchup 15-9 in the third set, claiming the overall win 3-2.
v.s. No. 3 Florida State: Coming off a major upset in the morning, the Spartans were looking to make another big splash against #3 Florida State, but similar to day one of the Seminole Beach Bash, it was the second match of the day that proved to be more difficult. Tampa remained competitive throughout the entire match, but fell short in all five matchups.
