HOW IT HAPPENED:
v.s. No. 20 FGCU: The Spartans traveled to Fort Meyers to take on FGCU in the first match of their weekend road trip. The Eagles claimed the first two matchup's, the 5's and 4's, in quick fashion but the Spartans responded with valiant fight. The 3's dropped the first set but took the second, and clinched their matchup in an extended third set, 17-15. The 2's also went to three sets with the Eagles and were similarly successful claiming the third 15-11. The 1's, which featured Julia Oswald for the first time since suffering a shoulder injury, played the longest third set of the Spartan's season. With both teams surrounding the court, the pairings traded point for point until the Eagles finally broke through and claimed the set 25-23, clinching the victory.
UP NEXT: The Spartans continue the weekend trip tomorrow, traveling to West Palm Beach to play Palm Beach Atlantic and Florida Southern.
