HOW IT HAPPENED:
Match No. 1: Following the Spartans' battle with FGCU in Fort Meyers, they traveled to Palm Beach to take on the Sailfish in a double header. For the first of the two matchups Tampa looked to some of their younger athletes to make a contribution. Sophomores Gia Marinelli and Alivia Horn played in the 2's matchup, and fellow sophomore Maddie Hart slid into the 4's to play with senior Melissa Elias. The 4's and the 3's would come out on top for the Spartans, but the Sailfish were able to capture the other three matchups and would win the first match.
Match No. 2: Heading into the second match, the Spartans' 3's, Kiersten Anderson and Payton Brunick were the only pairing that had match experience together. Each of the other four Spartans pairing were new pairings. The switch up from head coach Jeff Lamb proved to be effective. The new pairings of Maddie Brunick and Gia Marinelli along with Selina Pfuner and Melissa Elias both produced wins for Tampa helping them clinch the second match of the day.
UP NEXT: The Spartans compete in their only HOME match of the year this upcoming Tuesday, April 5th. The Spartans will take on FGCU in a double header at 11:00AM AND 1:00PM, with Senior Night celebrations taking place prior to the second match.
