Tampa Returns Home for Weekend Matchups
TAMPA, Fla. – Tampa Beach Volleyball is set to host the second tournament at home this Spring on Friday, March 30. The Spartans will play two matches on Friday and Saturday at 12pm and 4pm.
About the Spartans: The Spartans head into their second home tournament of the year with a record of 8-11 following an abbreviated weekend in South Carolina. The Spartans seem to have found a steady lineup with Julia Oswald and Payton Brunick in the 1s. Angel Williams returns from injury to play with Cassidy Ehrie in the 2s, Hailey Wolfe and Nevaeh Wolfe will partner together as the 3s pairing, Madison Brunick and Keely Hamilton in the 4s, and Kalli Cors and Alivia Horn will be together as the 5s.
About Saint Leo: The Lions enter the weekend with a 13-6 record. Last week they swept both Jacksonville State and State College of Florida, their best win of the season coming against PBA in a 4-1 win. In their last matchup against the Spartans, Tampa came out on top with a 4-1 victory.
About Erskine: Erskine heads into the weekend with a 2-16 record. Their two wins came against Spartanburg Methodist and Catawba College, both 5-0 victories. The two teams last met in Miami on March 18th, where the Spartans walked away with a 5-0 victory.
About PBA: The Sailfish enter the weekend with a .500 record of 11-11, three of their wins came against Florida Southern and two against Eckerd. In their last meeting with the Spartans on North Shore Beach in St. Petersburg, Tampa took home a 3-2 victory.
About Florida Southern: The Mocs make the short drive to Tampa with a 6-13 record, four of their wins coming against Jacksonville State and State College of Florida, both twice. The last meeting between the Spartans and Mocs was last year at the AVCA Small College Championships where the Spartans took a 3-0 victory.
This Weekends Schedule: The Spartans square off against Saint Leo and Erskine tomorrow, Friday 3/31, at 12 PM and 4 PM respectively. Then Tampa takes on PBA and Florida Southern on Saturday 4/1 at 10 AM and 4 PM respectively.
