UT Beach VB Garners Programs First-Ever Ranking
TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa beach volleyball program received its first-ever ranking in program history on Tuesday, February 27 as announced by the AVCA.
This comes following Tampa's successful weekend at the Tampa Invite with wins over No. 11 Florida Atlantic University and No. 17 South Carolina. Tampa played host to Arizona State, Florida Atlantic, Georgia State, and South Carolina, of which all were ranked heading into the tournament. The Spartans ended the weekend with a 2-2 overall record after a defeat to Arizona State on Friday and a nail-biting loss to Georgia State on Saturday. The program also made history over the weekend after defeating two ranked teams in a season for the first time.
The No. 19 Spartans will head to Tallahassee this weekend to take on some of the nation's top programs. No. 4 Florida State will host No. 5 Loyola Marymount University, No. 16 Georgia State, No. 17 Stetson, and the newly ranked Spartans.
