
Tampa Claims First SSC Beach Title With Triple Sweep
TAMPA, Fla. – The University of Tampa beach volleyball team capped off a dominant weekend at the inaugural Sunshine State Conference Championship, claiming the program's first-ever SSC title with back-to-back sweeps over No. 4 seed Saint Leo in the semifinals and No. 2 seed Palm Beach Atlantic in the finals. The Spartans finished the tournament a perfect 3–0, winning all nine completed flights across the weekend without dropping a set.
In the semifinals, the Spartans continued their postseason roll with a 3–0 sweep over No. 4 seed Saint Leo. Nevaeh Wolfe and Hailey Wolfe remained perfect at the 2's, cruising to a 21–11, 21–15 win.Anna Bayes and Brooke Green held strong in a competitive first set at the 4's before closing it out 24–22, 21–14. Sammie Ostrander and Meghan Schreck delivered the clinching point in the 5's with a commanding 21–9, 21–17 victory. The matches on courts 1 and 3 were left unfinished after the dual was clinched, though both Tampa pairs were leading. Elizabeth Price and Angel Williams were up 6–4 in the third set, and Madelynn Hokanson and Hailey Peterson held a 22–21 edge in the second set after taking the first.
Tampa carried its momentum into the championship match, sweeping No. 2 seed Palm Beach Atlantic 3–0 to secure the SSC crown. Once again, the Wolfe sisters set the tone with a 21–14, 21–18 win at the 2's. Hokanson and Peterson came through with a clutch 21–11, 23–21 victory at the 3's, and Ostrander and Schreck sealed the championship with a 21–18, 21–16 decision at the 5's. Both matches at the 1's and 4's were halted once the Spartans secured the team win—Price and Williams led 21–18, 19–15 in the 1's, while Bayes and Green had just forced a third set in the 4's. For their standout play throughout the tournament, the Wolfe twins were named the Sunshine State Conference Pair of the Tournament.
