
Six Spartans Make Daktronics All-Region Teams
TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa baseball team pulled in more individual accolades for their performances during the 2007 season. Three Spartans earned Daktronics All-South Region First Team honors and three more earned a spot on the All-South Region Second Team.
Tampa's batting average leader Craig Corrado earned first-team honors at third base along with starting pitcher Kevin Ferguson and relief pitcher Jonathan Holt. Corrado's .437 batting average was tops in the Sunshine State Conference as was Ferguson's 11 wins. Jonathan Holt is currently tied for second in the nation with 16 saves and leads all Tampa relievers with a 1.99 ERA.
Second baseman Ryan Kennedy along with outfielder Paul Cruz and starting pitcher Scott Chapman made the second-team roster. Kennedy batted .383 with a team-leading 13 homeruns. Cruz who made the move to lead-off hitter half way through the season flourished in the role and made the squad with a .369 average and 31 RBI. Chapman moved from the bullpen to a starter late in the season and posted a 6-0 record with a 3.34 ERA.
