Chris Rosenbaum Receives SSC Sportsmanship Award
ORLANDO, Fla. - The Sunshine State Conference announced University of Tampa baseball player Chris Rosenbaum as its recipient of the SSC Male Sportsmanship Award.
The values of good sportsmanship and good citizenship were considered in the selection process. Voting was conducted among the league's directors of athletics, senior woman administrators, sports information directors, and faculty athletics representatives.
Rosenbaum is a student in the Master of Business Administration program at Tampa. A second-team all-Sunshine State Conference selection, he helped guide Tampa to its second straight NCAA II baseball championship, earning all-tournament honors at the event. In the classroom, Rosenbaum posted a 3.78 grade point average and earned ESPN The Magazine first-team Academic All-America honors.
Rosenbaum served as president of Tampa's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, leading efforts to raise $4,000 for the Hope Children's Home Christmas Wish List. He also participated in fundraisers for St. Jude's Children's Hospital and the NCAA II campaign to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Rosenbaum spearheaded a red ribbon campaign on the Tampa campus, which increased awareness of drinking and driving.
A native of Castleton, N.Y., Rosenbaum was awarded the "Giving Back to the Community Award" at the Tampa Bay Sports Club banquet in February.
