UT Wins Third Straight SSC Title
TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa baseball team has won its third straight Sunshine State Conference championship, moving one step closer in its bid to host the 2008 NCAA II South Regional.
After finishing its SSC season with a record of 17-7, the Spartans now carry a 59-13 record over the three year span as SSC champions. Tampa has now captured six titles during Joe Urso's eight years at the helm. Overall, UT now has 12 SSC championships.
The Spartans now await word on the NCAA South Regional, where they remain the frontrunners to host as the number-one team in the region as well. The pairings will be announced on Sunday night while the regional is scheduled for May 15-18.
