Jesus Barroso Named SSC Player of the Week

ORLANDO, Fla. - The Sunshine State Conference announced University of Tampa infielder Jesus Barroso as its Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday. Barroso led UT to a sweep of SSC rival Saint Leo University.

Barroso, a junior from Panama City, Panama, batted .600 with eight RBI's and eight runs as the Spartans posted a 4-0 weekly mark, including an SSC series sweep at Saint Leo. Barroso hit safely in every game and tallied multiple hits in three contests. He also scored at least one run in each outing. In UT's 16-11 game two win against the Lions, Barroso went 5-for-7 with four RBI's and four runs. In a 9-8 extra-inning victory in the finale, he was 4-for-6 with a double, a home run, two RBI, and two runs. He concluded the week with a .800 slugging percentage, .600 OBP, and a .929 fielding percentage.
