TAMPA, Fla. - The No. 11 University of Tampa Spartans set a school record for hits with 31 en route to a 26-3 victory over the Saint Anselm Hawks. With the win, Tampa improves to 13-6 on the season and the Hawks fall to 1-3.
Starting first baseman Nick Nordgren went 4-for-4 with two doubles and three runs batted in on the day. Ten Spartans collected multiple hits in the game while they combined for thirteen extra base hits including eight doubles and give home runs. Steven Broschofsky stroked his team-leading sixth of the year in the Tampa third.
Starter Carmine Giardina (1-0) went seven strong innings versus the Hawks. Giardina struck out nine and walked two to earn his first victory of the season. Aaron Gerbasi entered in the eighth and threw two innings, allowing one run.
