
Spartans Claim 19th In National Poll
TAMPA, Fla. - Despite winning the Sunshine State Conference series 2-1 over visiting Saint Leo University, The University of Tampa baseball team fell six spots to No. 19 in the latest Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Division II Coaches' Poll. The Spartans, now 32-12 on the year and 10-5 in Sunshine State Conference play, lost game one on Friday night, but rebounded with a doubleheader sweep on Saturday, scoring a combined 28 runs on the day.
SSC rival Florida Southern also fell in the poll, dropping to fourth, while Barry remained seventh. Fellow South Region contender Southern Arkansas took over the top spot in the poll. The Muleriders had taken two games from Tampa earlier this season. In the Ping!Baseball National Poll, the Spartans continued to occupy the ninth position.
UT continues conference play this weekend, welcoming Rollins College for a three-game set. The two teams met in February for a nonconference game that the Spartans took 9-2. Tampa will offer livestats through www.tampaspartans.com.
