Mike Schwartz Earns SSC Player of the Week Recognition

ORLANDO, Fla. - University of Tampa baseball player Mike Schwartz has been named the Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week for the week ending May 3. Schwartz joins teammate Jared Simon as the lone Spartans to receive the honor this season.

Schwartz, a junior from Montville, N.J., batted .462 with four runs and nine RBIs to lead the No. 18 Spartans to an SSC series win at No. 11 Florida Southern. Schwartz hit safely in all three games and tallied multiple hits in two.

He had a monster performance in a 15-7 win in game two, going 3-for-5 with a pair of three-run home runs and a two-run double. He also tallied a double and scored two runs in a 7-6 come-from-behind, extra-inning win in the finale. For the series, Schwartz posted a .929 slugging percentage and a .615 OBP.
