
Postseason Play Begins Thursday Against Lynn
MAGNOLIA, Ark. - The 10th-ranked University of Tampa Spartans are set to face off against Sunshine State Conference opponent Lynn University in the first game of the NCAA II South Region Tournament tomorrow at 11 a.m. EST. Tampa, the fourth seed in the tournament, enters the contest with a record of 39-15 while the fifth-seeded Fighting Knights stand at a 38-16 mark.
The two teams met earlier this season in a three-game conference set. The Spartans took the first two games from Lynn before suffering a xx-x loss in game two of the doubleheader.
Tampa is led by senior Jose Jimenez, who comes into the game hitting at a .392 clip to go along with 10 homers, 49 runs batted in, 51 walks, and a .544 on base percentage. Mike Schwartz leads the squad in home runs with 12, after popping two three-run shots last weekend against SSC rival Florida Southern, who is seeded sixth in the tournament.
