
Spartans Sit at No. 2 for Third Week in a Row
TAMPA, Fla. - Suffering its first Sunshine State Conference series loss of the season, the University of Tampa baseball team stands at No. 2 for the third week in a row according to the latest Ping! Baseball NCAA II National Poll but dropped three places to No. 6 in the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper poll.
The Spartans finished last week with a record of 2-2 as topped Warner University 9-2 in their Tuesday afternoon contest, then defeated Barry Friday night by a tight 8-7 margin.
UT will face conference rival Florida Southern College in a crucial weekend series with the SSC title on the line. The Mocs sit at No. 4 in both the Ping! Baseball NCAA National Poll and Collegiate Baseball Newspaper poll. First game is Friday at 6 p.m. while the final regular season home-stand is set for a doubleheader to conclude the series Saturday, slotted for a 1 p.m. start.
