
Tampa Remains Second In National Baseball Poll
TAMPA, Fla. - Following a sweep of No. 4 Florida Southern College, The University of Tampa baseball team comes in at No. 2 for the fourth week in a row according to the latest Ping! Baseball NCAA II National Poll. The 2010 Sunshine State Conference champions also moved up three spots to No. 3 in the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper poll.
The Spartans concluded the sweep of its longtime SSC rival Florida Southern, topping the Mocs by scores of 25-6, 3-1 and 9-5. Entering the series, the Spartans needed to win a pair of games to clinch the SSC title.
With the regular season complete, the 42-8 Spartans now await word on the NCAA South Regional, which is slated for May 13-16 at campus sites. UT was No. 3 in the South Region in last week's release, but figures to move up following three losses by No. 2 Florida Southern and a pair of setbacks by No. 1 Southern Arkansas.
