#10 Spartans Maul Lions
TAMPA, Fla. - The No. 10 University of Tampa baseball team (19-7) routed the Lions of Florida Memorial University (6-17) on Tuesday evening by a score of 23-0. Tampa had a season high 26 hits.
The Spartans opened the flood gates in the first inning when they put up 10 runs on the scoreboard. Outfielder Andrew Jones got the ball rolling for Tampa with two extra base hits including two RBI and a run scored in the first inning alone.
Connor Obrochta led the Spartans offensively with four runs, four hits and four RBI. Zach Gawrych added five hits and two runs scored and three RBI for Tampa. Damon Elder also chipped in for three runs, three hits and an RBI.
Max Kreuter got the win, improving his record to 2-0 on the season. Kreuter threw two no hit innings. Additionally, Justin Leith led the Spartan pitching staff by striking out three Lion hitters. Ryan Kennedy added two scoreless innings while striking out two. Finally, Raiko Alfonso scored three times, had two hits and an RBI for the Spartans.
