
Tampa to End Regular Season Against the Tritons
TAMPA, Fla. - After a dominating doubleheader against Palm Beach Atlantic University, the No. 13 University of Tampa baseball team will end the regular season against fellow Tampa Bay native Eckerd College for a three game set. The homestand will kickoff Friday night at 6 p.m. with a doubleheader Sunday slated for a 1 p.m. start time at the University of Tampa Baseball Field.
The Spartans will honor their senior class between Sunday's twinbill against the 17-29 Tritons who sit eighth in the Sunshine State Conference with a 5-16 mark. Tampa holds the third place in SSC play behind a 13-8 tally while standing 32-15 for the regular season.
The series marks the final SSC matchup for the two teams as well as the final regular season meeting for foes.
Last weekend the Spartans beat the Sailfish two games to one as the Saturday doubleheader was powered by a five home run attack. Tampa outscored PBA 27-5 on the doubleheader sweep but fell 8-6 on the Friday night loss.
The Tritons lost their last series against conference foe Saint Leo, being shut out by the Lions in both losses. Tampa leads the all-time series against the Tritons 83-29.
