
Tampa Holds On To Top National Ranking
TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa baseball team, now 25-6 on the season, continues to garner national attention in this week's national rankings.
Among the four polls, Tampa is ranked No. 1 by both College Baseball Lineup and D2 News while coming in at No. 2 by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers of American (NCBWA) and No. 4 in Collegiate Baseball Newspaper.
The Spartans are winners of eight of its last nine games and most recently took two of three in a Sunshine State Conference series at Rollins College.
Tampa has been particularly impressive on the mound, with a team earned run average (ERA) of 2.64. UT has 10 of its 11 pitchers with a sub-4.00 ERA and four below 2.00.
UT has been ranked the entire season and has now been represented in the national poll for a program-record 121 consecutive weeks.
The Spartans host SSC opponent Barry University, beginning Friday at 6 p.m., at the UT Baseball Field. UT will conclude the critical series with a Saturday doubleheader at 1 p.m. Live stats and a video webcast will be available through TampaSpartans.tv.
