
Tampa Remains No. 1 in Three of Four National Polls
TAMPA, Fla. - After winning six of its last seven games, the University of Tampa baseball team continues to hold the No. 1 ranking in three of the four national polls.
Among the four polls, Tampa is ranked No. 1 by College Baseball Lineup, D2 Baseball News and Collegiate Baseball Newspaper. UT is also No. 2 in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers of American (NCBWA).
The Spartans are now 31-7 overall and own a 12-6 Sunshine State Conference record.
Tampa has been particularly impressive on the mound, with a team earned run average (ERA) of 2.41. UT has 10 of its 11 pitchers with a sub-4.00 ERA and four below 2.00.
The Spartans are now ranked third in the nation in team ERA, and are second in lowest walks per nine innings at 2.31. Additionally, UT's .811 winning percentage is ninth in the country.
Among individuals, Eric Grabe is fifth in the nation with seven sacrifice flies and Preston Packrall is now 22nd with seven saves. Ben O'Shea is also 19th in walks allowed per nine innings at 1.16.
UT has been ranked the entire season and has now been represented in the national poll for a program-record 123 consecutive weeks.
The Spartans will host Palm Beach Atlantic in a non-conference meeting, beginning Friday at 6 p.m. The series will also include a Saturday doubleheader at 1 p.m. Live stats and a video webcast will be available through TampaSpartans.tv.
