
Spartans Conclude Busy Week With Dominant Hitting, Pitching Effort
TAMPA, Fla. - The No. 3 University of Tampa baseball team had another double-digit win, sweeping Pace University by a score of 14-1.
The Spartans move to 10-2 on their 2013 season, while the Setters fall to 0-3 on the year.
Tampa started strong right out of the gate with a five-run first inning, and notching on three more in the second. Catcher Adam Pendleton led the Spartans with three hits and three RBI on the day.
Michael Danner added fuel to the fire with three RBI of his own when he hit a double to left center with the bases loaded. Tyler Ding and Connor Obrochta each had two hits as well to stretch the lead even more.
Tampa's pitching and defense was solid today only giving up one run. Starter Ben Brown got the win, pitching 5.0 innings and allowing five hits.
Relief pitchers Matt Abramson and Aaron Gerbasi both made quality appearances. Caleb Kellogg came in for the 9th to close ringing up two Setters for strikeouts.
