UT Baseball Rout Rival Florida Southern 6-1
LAKELAND, Fla. - The No. 3 University of Tampa baseball team charmed Florida Southern College 6-1 off of a quality outing by senior starting pitcher Matt Abramson. The win gives the Spartans a 26-6 with a 10-3 tally in Sunshine State Conference matchups while the Mocs dip to 14-17 season mark with a 6-4 record in conference play.
Abramson (6-0) started on the hill for Tampa, pitching six complete innings without allowing a run. The right-handed pitcher maintained his perfect 0.00 earned run average for a school record 31.2 innings.
Junior outfielders Connor Obrochta and Michael Danner hit back-to-back home runs in the fifth inning, as centerfielder Obrochta plated three Spartan runners with the homer. Danner followed with a solo shot to give UT a 4-0 advantage.
Catcher Adam Pendleton ended the contest with a 3-for-4 night as the senior was the only player to record multiple hits.
Tampa continues its road series against conference rival FSC Saturday with a twin-bill scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. Live stats will be available through www.tampaspartans.com
