TAMPA, Fla. - The No. 5 University of Tampa baseball team faltered its weeknight matchup against No. 18 Florida Tech by a 9-7 score. The Panthers improve to 22-16 in the non-conference matchup while the Spartans dip to 30-9.
Designated hitter B.J. Zimmerman tallied a two RBI home run for the UT squad, his fourth of the season. First baseman Michael Danner plated a pair of runs to his credit, including a RBI two-bagger to left field.
FIT hurler Jerrod Leinhauser(3-1) tallied the win, pitching 2.1 innings of relief. Spartan starter Preston Packrall (1-1) was tabbed with the loss in his three innings of work, surrendering a pair of runs.
