Joe Urso and Mike Adams Recipients of South Region Awards

BOCA RATON, Fla. - Head coach Joe Urso and pitcher Mike Adams were recipients of the Rawlings/ABCA South Region Coach and Pitcher of the Year honors, as the all-South region team and major award winners were announced.

Michael Danner joins Adams as a first-team all-region selection as fellow Spartans Tyler Ding, Jacob Tillotson and Matt Abramson earned a spot on the second team.

Urso guided his team to a 43-11 overall record as his squad recently won the NCAA South Regional to earn a spot in the NCAA Championships. A two-time National Coach of the Year, Urso claims region coach of the year honors for the sixth time in his career.

Adams, a senior left-handed pitcher from Spring Hill, Fla., leads the team in ERA (2.43), wins (7), strikeouts (69) and batting average against (.220). Also the Sunshine State Conference Pitcher of the Year, Adams has turned in 17 scoreless performances this season.

Danner, a junior outfielder, is hitting .356 with a team-high 46 RBI while Ding leads all Spartans with a .387 batting average. Tillotson is hitting .361. good for second among all Spartans. Abramson, a senior pitcher, set a school record with 33.2 scoreless innings to start the season. His ERA currently sits at 1.38 as he owns a 7-1 record with one save.

Each member of the first team will be eligible for Rawlings/ABCA NCAA DIVISION II All-American consideration, which will be selected on Sunday, May 26 in Cary, N.C., in conjunction with the Division II National Championship Tournament. The "Player of the Year" and the "Pitcher of the Year" in the region is guaranteed a spot on one of the three "All-American Teams" selected in Cary.
