National Champions Honored by Tampa Bay Rays
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The University of Tampa baseball team was honored by the Tampa Bay Rays prior to its game against the Baltimore Orioles at Tropicana Field.
Members of the 2013 national championship team were able to take batting practice on the field at 3:30 p.m., as a video of the championship run was played before the game. Championship series MVP Jake Schrader and senior captain Adam Pendleton then threw out the first pitch.
"This was an amazing experience for our team, and we would like to thank the Tampa Bay Rays organization for making this possible," says head coach Joe Urso. "Our guys got to meet with several Rays coaches and players before the game, and this is an experience that we will never forget."
