Chase Sparkman Named NCBWA South Region Pitcher of the Week
DALLAS - The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) released its seventh weekly NCAA Division II Regional Players of the Week awards of the 2015 season for the week ending on March 29. Chase Sparkman represents the University of Tampa as the top pitcher in the South Region for the week.
Sparkman, who was also the Sunshine State Conference Pitcher of the Week, led the Spartans to a victory in the series opener versus No. 6 Florida Tech.
The senior went the full 9.0 innings and gave up no runs off six hits. He also added four strikeouts to help silence the Panther offense. Sparkman's complete game shutout was the first of his career, and with his efforts in game one, the Spartans were able to pass Florida Tech in the SSC standings.
